CASE III Grand Award


Only one university may receive the Grand Award in a category from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). In February 2016, Furman received the Grand Award in magazine improvement for how its flagship publication has been reinvented from its prior incarnation. The Grand Award was received after publishing just two of the newly reimagined issues.

Up to two universities can be given Awards of Excellence in a category from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). Furman received an Award of Excellence in online innovation for its dynamic 15 for '15 photo essay that profiled 15 graduates from the class of 2015 with imaginative imagery that represented their passions and paths beyond Furman.

Up to three universities can be cited for Special Merit in a category from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). Furman received a Special Merit Award for the marketing strategies and materials it created for Dins Day, a one-day giving marathon that involved print, digital, and social platforms and raised more than $1 million from more than 1,500 donors.

Furman received a Special Merit Award for the marketing strategies and wide-ranging portfolio of materials it produced for the 2015 inauguration of the university's 12th president, Elizabeth Davis, Ph.D.

Ozzie Award


In October 2015, Furman magazine was the recipient of an Ozzie Award, given by FOLIO as part of its prestigious competition for mainstream media, which featured such outlets as Travel + Leisure, Harvard Business Review, and Politico. This year's FOLIO field was narrowed from 2,800 entries to only 250 awards. Furman was awarded an honorable mention in the category of magazine improvement, comparing the magazine as it had to been to its current form after a complete editorial and graphic re-envisioning. Other honorable mentions across the FOLIO competition included such publications as the Chronicle of Higher Education, Science, ESPN, O Magazine, and The Atlantic.

PICA Award


The poster for Furman's 2015 soccer team received a Best in Category from PICA (Print Industry of the Carolinas Association). Since 1966, the PICA Awards have been the premiere symbol of excellence for the graphics industry in the Carolinas.
